Carrier or vendor outage

When the fault is with your provider, the job becomes confirming it and chasing them.

When the failure is someone else's, the technical work is over almost before it starts. What remains is a business question: how do you keep operating for the next few hours, and how does anyone know when it is over.

What you may notice

  • Everyone is affected at once, across different devices.
  • The service loads for nobody, including from a phone on mobile data.
  • A vendor status page is behind what you are seeing.
  • Phones or email fail while everything else works.
  • It began without anything changing at your end.

Confirm it is theirs, then stop troubleshooting it

We confirm the fault sits outside your business, check whether a workaround exists on a different path and follow the vendor's own reporting so you aren't guessing at progress.

Troubleshooting your own equipment won't bring it back sooner. Making sure the fault is logged with the provider, with a reference number, is the part that helps. What is worth deciding, while it is quiet, is which of these services your business genuinely can't trade without for half a day, and what you would do instead. An outage is a bad time to discover that the answer is nothing.
