Office move
Carrying the equipment goes fine. What decides Monday belongs to other companies.Carrying the equipment is the part everyone plans and the part that goes fine. What decides whether you can trade on the Monday is a set of things that belong to other companies and run on their timetables, not yours.
What has a lead time
- A new internet service, which can take weeks rather than days.
- Moving or porting phone numbers.
- Cabling and where the outlets actually are.
- Where a comms cabinet can go, and whether it has power and air.
- Landlord or building approval for any of the above.
- An overlap period on both sites, if you want one.
Order the long items first, then everything else
We work out what the new site needs, what depends on somebody else's schedule, what can be prepared in advance and what genuinely has to happen on the weekend itself.
A common mistake is booking the removalist before ordering the internet. One of those is arranged in a week and the other isn't, and a business that arrives at a new office with no connection has usually made this exact sequencing error. If you take one thing from this page before speaking to anyone, order the connection.
