Outlook not connecting

It might be Outlook. It might equally be the account, the licence, the device or the service behind it.

It might be Outlook itself. It might equally be the Microsoft 365 account, the licence, the password, MFA, the internet connection, the device profile, the mailbox or the service being unavailable.

What you may notice

  • Outlook shows disconnected or trying to connect.
  • Email isn't sending or receiving.
  • A password prompt keeps returning.
  • Outlook works in a browser but not on the computer.

Check the user, device and Microsoft 365 together

We check the user account, the licence, the Microsoft 365 service, the device, the Outlook profile and the network connection. That is usually what separates one person's problem from one device's problem from everybody's problem.

Don't keep typing your password into a prompt you weren't expecting. Confirm the sign-in request is genuine first.
