IT ISSUE · BACKUP AND RECOVERY
Restore request
Backups cover what they were set up to cover, which isn't always where your work lives now. Most restore requests are ordinary. The difficult ones usually share a cause, and it is rarely the backup: the job did exactly what it was configured to do, and what it was configured to do is older than where your work lives now.
What you may notice
- The file isn't in the restore point you expected.
- A folder somebody moved isn't covered.
- A mailbox created after the job was set up is missing.
- Work now lives in Teams or SharePoint rather than where it used to.
- A restore returns an older version than the one you wanted.
We check what was covered, not only what reported success
We identify the item, the date you need it from and the service that should be holding it, then check the coverage, retention and permissions that actually applied on that date.
Where something was never in scope, we tell you that plainly rather than restoring the nearest thing and letting you discover the difference later. That conversation is also the moment to correct the scope, rather than after the next request.
